Maldives Photographers Association was established in 13th August, 2008 to promote and develop the art and profession of photography in the Maldives. The Association endeavors to create awareness and interest in photography within young children, to train and assist would be photographers and to give a voice to professional Maldivian photographers and assist them compete in the globalized commercial photography market.
MPA is a group of artisans, hobbyists, well wishers and friends dedicated to the promotion of an art form.
1. Vision
To make MPA a coherent community of photography enthusiasts who :
- has means to access resources,
- has fair access to markets,
- are empowered to explore different areas of photography
- are free of non-ethical use of their work
2. Mission Statement
The mission of the Maldives Photographers Association (MPA) is to provide education, foster professionalism and ethical conduct, gather and disseminate information, and develop standards for all persons interested in the field of photography. MPA further seeks to promote photography as an art form and a medium of communication for the sciences, journalism, and environmental protection.
3. Objectives
- To advance press photography in all its branches
- To promote the general welfare and conditions in the photography field
- To create, promote, and maintain cordial relations and cooperation, a higher spirit of fraternalism, the interchange of thought and opinion freely, and a high standard of conduct among its members
- To distribute and disseminate accurate information in regard to matters pertaining to photography in Maldives
- To settle equitably and justify the differences between its members (if applicable to us)
- To preserve, stabilize, unify, and coordinate all elements in the field of photography in Maldives

Executive Committee
The first Executive Committee was elected on the 12th of July, 2009 in a general meeting of the members. The request to register the EC was submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs on the 18th of June, 2009. The official letter from the Ministry of Home Affairs accepting the registration of the EC was issued on the 12th of July, 2009. A copy of this letter can be viewed here.
